The present study is aimed to investigate the antidiabetic, analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect of aqueous extracts of stem and leaves of Alangium Salvifolium (AEAS) and Pavonia Zeylanica (AEPZ). The antidiabetic activity was evaluated by measuring blood glucose level in normal and streptozotocin (STZ) induced diabetic rats, the acetic acid induced writhing and hot plate methods in mice were used to assess analgesic activity and Carrageenan induced paw edema in rats, which is an acute model used to assess antiinflammatory activity. The results support the traditional usage of the plants of Alangium Salvifolium and Pavonia zeylanica by ayurvedic physicians for the control of diabetes, pain and inflammation.
