This study sought to investigate the anticholinesterases, α-amylase and α-glucosidase as well as antioxidant potentials of aqueous crude extract of Sterculia tragacantha leaves (AESTL) in vitro. The aqueous extract of AESTL was prepared and its inhibitory potentials on acetylcholinesterase (AChE), butyrylcholinesterase (BChE), α-amylase and α-glucosidase activities were estimated using appropriate methods. Also, in vitro antioxidant properties were investigated via FRAP, DPPH, ABTS, and TAC using standard models. The result of our study revealed that the extract inhibited AChE, BChE, α-amylase and α-glucosidase activities. Also, AESTL extract displayed strong inhibitory ability against in vitro antioxidant parameters studied. Taken together, the results revealed that AESTL extract possesses antioxidant and strong inhibitory activities in vitro and this may probably be useful in the management of diabetes mellitus.
