The seasonal variation of the epipelic algae of Gıcı Lake and the factors affecting the variation were studied between February 2000-January 2001. A total of 58 taxa belonging to Bacillariophyta, Chlorophyta, Cyanophyta and Euglenophyta were identified. Bacillariophyta members were dominant during the study period. In this divisio, Navicula gregaria, Navicula rhyncocephala, Nitzschia palea, Amphora ovalis and Cymbella affinis were found to be significantly increased. The variations in the epipelic algae community structure were investigated by application of Shannon-Weaver diversity, cluster analysis, NMDS (Non-metric Multidimensial Scaling) and by the way the community structure was summarized.
