Abstract

Microbiological Quality of fresh Bogue fish caught at Mâ??diq port, Morocco

Insaf Ghailani, Mohamed Ben Ali, Dina Baghdadi Mazini, Asmae Zawjal, Said Barrijal

Our study consists in evaluating the microbiological quality of the bogue fish (Boops Boops) freshly caught. Thus, we conducted a study of 40 samples taken from the fishing vessels docked at Mâ??diq port. The microbiological analyzes conducted at the Regional Laboratory for Epidemiological Diagnosis and Environmental Hygiene (LRDEHM) in Tetouan according to Moroccan and international standards in force (Total germ counts, fecal coliforms, Listeria, Salmonella and Staphylococcus) have indicated that this fish resource is exposed to contamination, especially by pathogenic germs. The results of analyzes in our study have shown that this fishery resource is exposed to contamination even if the samples are collected and analyzed in the fresh state. Therefore, efforts should be made to improve the safety and wholesomeness of the fish caught at Mâ??diq port (Morocco).
