Abstract:

The therapeutic approach of antiviral treatment based on the administration of direct acting antivirals of HCV induced chronic hepatitis, available since 2015, changed also daily clinical management of this cohort of patients. WHO, in fact, put the eradication of HCV in the World as possible goal for 2030. Therefore, several screenings have been made in each Hospital or region in order to early identify oligosymptomatic unknown HCV infection. We here report our experience with a tailored screening for HCV infection “Cinquanta senza C”. Patients and Methods Based on a National fund, a selettive screening for hcv was planned for volunteers and for inpatients in the hospital Santa maria delle grazie, Pozzuoli. A blood sample Afterhours informed consent was performed to all patients that agreed to the screening by venipuncture. Results HCV infection was detected in 4500  asymptomatic patients, nearly X% of screened population. Naive asymptomatic patients were addressed to antiviral therapy to eradicate HCV and nearly 33% of patients agreed to perform the treatment. Discussion 50 senza C was an intriguing and productive screening to identification asymptomatic carriers of HCV infection. This program may be considered useful in order to eradicate HCV infection within 2030 according to WHO program.
