Most practitioners who delve into Aesthetic Medicine tend to think that the pathology-based traditional medicine and cosmetic/ aesthetic medicine are similar in its scope of practice. Yet, there are drastic differences between the two branches of medicine. When one is offering procedures that are not medically indicated but based on the desires of the client, there is a greater responsibility on the practitioner to make sure that the procedure is appropriate to offer. If the practitioner is blind to the deeper, psychological need of the client who seeks the aesthetic treatments, the end results would be dissatisfaction by the client despite excellent results of the procedure itself. Learning to recognize deeper meanings of each client’s expressed desire for a given procedure would allow the practitioner to fulfil the true needs of the clients in the Aesthetic Medicine
