Determinants of neonatal near-miss among neonates of postnatal women in north Wollo hospitals, northern Ethiopia, 2022.

Background: Children born with life-threatening conditions are more likely to die
particularly during the neonatal period. Neonatal near-miss events are three to six
times more frequent than neonatal deaths. However, there is limited evidence of this
problem in sub-Saharan Africa, particularly Ethiopia. Therefore, this study aimed to
identify the determinants of neonatal near misses among neonates delivered in public
hospitals in the North Wollo Zone, Northern Ethiopia.
Methods: A facility-based unmatched case-control study was conducted from
February 25 to April 25, 2022, on 453 participants. Consecutive and systematic
sampling techniques were used. A pre-tested semi- structured intervieweradministered
