    Current standards of nursing practice in providing safe, high quality, And evidence-based care to endoscopy patients in the United Kingdom

    Endoscopy units are quite busy, with a high turnover of patients. With the increasing demand for services, as well as the challenges of maintaining safe staffing levels and adequate resources whilst in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, safe, high quality and evidence-based care should be of utmost importance to achieve the best patient outcomes and experience. This narrative review of literature provides a framework on current best nursing care practice within endoscopy units in the United Kingdom. With emphasis on patient-centred care, relevant information for endoscopy nurses were obtained from academic sources, as well as guidelines from the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council and the British Society of Gastroenterology, to name a few.
