    Cleft Lip and Palate in Children and Adolescents The Role of the Pediatric Dentist.

    Cleft lip and palate comprise congenital malformations that alter the functional structures of the face, which may affect the lip and oral cavity. Consequently, important functions, such as phonation and hearing, can be compromised, causing a relevant impact on the health and social life of these individuals. The objective of this work was to carry out a literature review on the role of the Pediatric Dentist in the approach of patients with cleft lip and palate and to classify and characterize cleft lip and palate. This study is a narrative review of the literature, so the electronic seats were performed in a non-systematic way.
